Bidhi Chand Sawhney

Dr. Bidhi C. Sawhney, 77, of Scarsdale, NY passed away on Nov. 28, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 3, 1935, in India. He studied hard and graduated from New Delhi University, India in 1959. With high marks in science and mathematics, Bidhi was admitted to and attended NYU, where he received a Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1965. After attaining his doctorate, he then assisted his older brother, Dr. Roop C. Sawhney, on special projects for NASA. He later worked as a portfolio manager for Reich & Co on Wall Street. Bidhi was deeply religious and committed to family values and friendship. He devoted much of his time helping friends and family emigrate from India to the US, making significant sacrifices so that they too could realize the “American Dream”. Bidhi was also a fond of good music, food, film and travel, especially when he enjoyed them with his kids and good friends. In addition to his wife Avinash, he is survived by his sons Sheel (Purvi) Sawhney and Rishi (Gladys) Sawhney, his beloved daughter Simrun (Victor) Gialleonardo and his seven (7) grandsons, Devin Gialleonardo, Kirk Gialleonardo, Milan Gialleonardo, Jayin Sawhney, Dylan Sawhney, Arjun Sawhney and Jaan Sawhney.

Visitation on Friday November 30, 20122 from 4-8 PM and Saturday December 1, 2012 from 9-11:30 AM followed by cremation at Ferncliff Cemetery Hartsdale NY.
