Christopher W. Stimpson

Christopher W. Stimpson, age 53, of Scarsdale NY, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, June 29th, 2017. Born on February 13, 1964, Chris was the beloved son of the late Catharine P. (Pat) Stimpson and is survived by his father Robert S. Stimpson, brother Robert Stimpson Jr., sister Madeleine Melkonian (John), and nephews and niece Michael, Katie, and Matthew Melkonian.

Chris was a passionate, charming, fearless and independent soul, deeply loyal to those he loved. Chris was a devoted caregiver for his father for the past several years, helping each day with humor and love. He served as a fireman with the Scarsdale Fire Department until an injury forced him to retire, just as the career that realized his lifelong dream had begun. Not one to consider a life of deskwork, Chris had previously worked in the boating industry in different capacities for many years. He was a fearless rigger, owned his own boat bottom cleaning service, and worked as a first mate on a privately-owned deep sea fishing boat.

His passion for animals was renown, and he was a magnet for animals of all kinds – dogs, cats, birds, squirrels, all seemed to find him irresistible. Charter, his golden retriever, was his partner and beloved buddy, and Chris never quite got over his passing.

Chris will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5th from 4-8pm at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Home, Scarsdale NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am on Thursday, July 6th at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Interment will follow at White Plains Rural Cemetery.
