Flora D. Tripodo

Flora Dorothy Pinto Tripodo, beloved and loving mother of four, grandmother of seven, great-grandmother of three, and cherished friend to countless, passed away peacefully in her home on January 27th, 2024.

Flora was born in New York City on September 25th, 1921 to Giovanni and Santina Pinto, who had immigrated from Italy in 1920. She was the second of eight children, five of whom survived to adulthood. Flora and Fred Tripodo were married in 1948 and raised four children - Freddy, Anthony, Joan, and Bill - who they loved dearly and who were constant sources of pride and joy for them. Flora and Fred lived happily together until his passing in 1995.

Flora was an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast from the time she was young until her final days. She had a lifelong love of world travel. When asked how she maintained her astonishing mental sharpness, sense of humor, and curiosity throughout her long life, she would smile and credit her “bliss gene”, which blessed her with the ability to soak up and appreciate the world’s charms every day. Her sparkling personality and concern for those around her meant that throughout her life she was surrounded by an often loud, always caring, and ever-present community of loved ones.

She is survived by her children, Anthony (Olga), Joan Postiglione (Angelo), and Bill (Lucille); her loving sister Natalina; her grandchildren, Angelica, Tarun, Anthony, Andrew, Cristina, William, John, Maria, and Frankie; great-grandchildren, Luca, Gia Santina, and Nico; and her many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Sunday February 4th from 2 to 6 pm at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Homes and a funeral mass will be held on Monday February 5th at 10 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Flora’s name to the Pelham Art Center or the Eastchester Public Library.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, Gale, Grace, Mary, Rhoda, Sonia, Karleen,Jackie,Pat, Dorothy, Lisa and Agnes for being such a source of joy for Flora in her final years.
