James Lewis Richy, age 75, was born in New York City and grew up on City Island, Bronx, NY, passed away on April 2, 2024. He is preceded in death by his son Bryan John, his older brother John, and his parents John and Gertrude. He was simply Jim to anyone who knew him.
He leaves behind his wife Lynne, his children James and Christine, his 3 grandchildren Nadia Fae, Tobey James and Aidan James, his twin brother Bill and sister Jean Hall, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Jim was a great man who will be greatly missed by all who know him. He has left a gaping hole in our lives that we will try our best to fill with the many memories of Jim’s humor, of his kindness, his generosity, and his simple enjoyment of life. He lived his life in a peaceful, low-key way that was contagious and comforting to his family. Everyone enjoyed him, he just needed to be present to add pleasure to the day for everyone. His quiet intelligence was a source of strength for many. He knew the secret of being in the moment. It was where he was most comfortable. After working for many long years, he was able to retire and enjoy leisure time, which was his favorite time of all – be it by himself, with his family, and assuredly with his wife. His loving care for his pet cats Oreo, Butter, Swine and others along the way, as well as his attention to his backyard bird feeders showed yet another side of his gentle, caring nature. Let’s not forget the pride he took in his perfectly manicured hedge and lawn, which kept his wife’s wilder gardening ways in check! We are all grateful for what we have had, but wish it could have been a while longer. It is never going to be the same without him.
Visitation will be held Friday, Apr 5, 2024 from 3 to 7 pm. The funeral service will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Scarsdale, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Walden, 2489 Albany Post Road, Walden, NY 12586.
