

Mrs. Juana J. Sanchez Cerizola was born in Tucupido, Venezuela, to Julio C. Sanchez Acero and Carmen J. Cerizola de Sanchez, on May 26, 1921. Mrs. Sanchez was an apparel designer that specialized in men's clothing. She dedicated her life to raising her three daughters. Mrs. Sanchez was a lively and fearless adventurer, who was the first woman in her town to learn to drive a car and get her driver's license. She was a generous spirit, who was always first to lend a hand to those in need in her community. You could always expect a warm, delicious meal at Juana's home. Mrs. Sanchez enjoyed the theater and played the guitar. She enjoyed horseback riding and traveling. She was an active supporter of the movement to restore democracy in Venezuela.
She was a member of the Association of the Daughters of Mary and a devout Catholic all throughout her life.
Mrs. Sanchez is survived by her daughters Maria Hicks, Heddy Cashman and Yasmin Pacia. Her son’s in-law Robert Hicks, James Cashman, and Nick Pacia, her sister Mrs. Herminia Lammons, her grandchildren Erika Fernandez, JC Barros, Jose Alberto Fernandez, Claudia Cuenca, Carlos Juan Cuenca, Sasha LoPresti, Sabato Pacia, Simon Pacia and Isabella Pacia. Her great-grandchildren Danny Vera and Marian Vera and Juan Carlos Cuenca Jr.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 9, 2017. Religious services will be held at Fatima Church at 10:00 am on Friday, February 10th. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery and arrangements are by Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Homes
