Born at Lawrence Hospital, Susan grew up in Crestwood and she attended Gordon High School. Early in her career, she worked at McKinsey & Company, when she met her husband, Robert. Susan married Robert (“Bob”) in 1966, and together they built a life filled with love, adventure, and many children.
In the 1970s, while raising their children, Susan returned to school to complete her college education, and eventually her PhD in Psychology in 1985. She went on to devote her skills to advocacy work, particularly supporting battered women during the 1980s — a cause to which she brought unwavering strength and conviction.
Susan lived life to the fullest. She cherished traveling the world with her family, exploring places as varied and vibrant as Bali, India, Europe, and Australia. She often recalled– with humor– the night of the great East Coast Blackout, which she spent memorably partying on a Metro North train.
Susan is predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Schoetz, and her eldest son, Drew. She is survived by family who will forever carry her spirit, stories, and love in their hearts.
Her legacy lives on in the countless people whose lives she touched, the family she adored, and the zest for life that she brought into the world.
May her memory be a blessing.
