William Meyer

William Meyer, age 85, of Hartsdale, NY, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014, in his home. He was born August 19, 1929, on a farm in Holzhausen, Germany to Heinrich and Sophie Meyer. He immigrated to the U.S. and was shortly thereafter drafted into the U.S. Army. He met his wife Maria at Orchard Beach in the Bronx. They settled in Queens and later moved to Brentwood, Long Island.

Bill (Willy) worked for many years as a Route Salesman for Entenmann’s Bakery. He retired in 1992 and moved to Walton, NY with his wife, Maria. After suffering a massive stroke in 2010, he and his wife moved to Hartsdale, NY to live with his daughter Karen and her husband Stephen Boyer.

Bill had an ever present sense of humor and was a very gracious and sweet man. He was ahead of his time demonstrated in his conservation and environmental endeavors. He will be missed “like crazy” by his family. Surviving are his wife, Maria Meyer; three daughters, Rosemarie Meyer of Scarsdale, N.Y., Karen Boyer of Hartsdale, N.Y., Heidi Lemanski of Wantaugh, N.Y.; a son Robert Meyer of Macungie, P.A. and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.

He was a member of the Royal Oasis in Walton, NY where he enjoyed dining with his friends.Funeral visitation will take place at the funeral home on December 5, 2014 from 4-8PM. A prayer service will be held at 7PM. On December 6, 2014 Saturday in Walton New York at the Walton Cemetery a graveside service will be held at 11:30AM. Interment to follow.
