Betty Jane Smith, 86, of Schaefferstown, died Monday, February 14, 2011 in Manor Care, Lebanon. She was the wife of the late Sterling L. Smith. She was born in Ephrata on April 18, 1924 a daughter of the late Samuel and Mabel Rollman Frederick. Betty was a sewing machine operator for 48 years and a member of the Myerstown Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed sewing and making clothing for her family members. She is survived by children, Glenn Smith of Elmer, PA; Sue wife of Roy Derr of Schaefferstown; grandsons, Kyle husband of Jessica Derr and Eric husband of Tina Derr; great granddaughter, Alyssa Derr; sister, Muriel Hurst of Lebanon. She was preceded in death by a son, Stephan Derr and eleven brothers and sisters. Funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
