

Bruce Alan Stokes, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, PA. He was the husband of Nancy Keller Stokes with whom he was married to for 47 years. He was born in West Reading on March 28, 1949, a son of the late Frank Henry and Mary Elvinia Leibig Stokes. He was a Navy veteran who during his years of service was a trained respiratory therapist and went on to continue that career at the Lebanon VA Medical Center for 15 years and another 25 years at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was a member of the Midway Church and was involved with mission work in Haiti through the church. Bruce was a longtime coach of the Iona Youth Baseball program and played minor league baseball for the Chicago Cubs organization. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, golf and traveling to Myrtle Beach. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Kirk A. Stokes and wife Heather Heisey Stokes of Annville; Kyle B. Stokes and wife Jennifer Ebersole Stokes of Annville; Chad B. Stokes and wife Anita Landis Stokes of South Lebanon; Kristen K. Stokes Nolen and husband Jesse R. Nolen of South Lebanon; grandchildren, Kaylyn, Kenton, Tanner, Avery, Emerson, Addison and Kerrigan; brother, John Stokes and wife Valerie Miller Stokes, Newmanstown; nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11 AM in the Midway Church, 13 Evergreen Road, Lebanon, PA 17042 with a viewing beginning on Saturday at 9 AM. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to Midway Church “Mission Outreach”.
