

Glenn R. Carpenter, 76, of Newmanstown, passed away into eternal life on December 18, 2016 surrounded by loving family at the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital due to chronic illness. Glenn was born in Cornwall, PA, to the late Lloyd Carpenter and Mary (Ditzler) Carpenter. Glenn was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Katherine Mary (Seubert) Carpenter, as well as his son Christopher Joseph Carpenter, and grandson Joshua Matthew Gerber, and brother Ronald G. Carpenter. Glenn participated in varsity track and football, and was a 1958 graduate of Cornwall High School. He was also a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force. Glenn worked for Wilbur Chocolate, and later retired from Kellogg’s. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. He adored animals, especially his pets, Chloe, Tucker, Angel, Elvis and Penny. Most of all, he adored spending time with his friends and family, often hosting summer picnics and holiday gatherings. Glenn is survived by son, Stephen Carpenter of Palmyra (husband of Nanci), daughters, Anne Carpenter of Lancaster, Birgit Hussart of Ankum, Germany, Teressa “Tess” Picarelli of Millersville (wife of Vincent), Michelle Blouse of Lebanon (significant other Butch), and Michele Gardner of Columbia. He will be deeply missed by grandchildren, Andrew Carpenter (husband of Carrie), Victoria Stegman (wife of Kurt), Hannah Carpenter, Janine Hussart, Denise Hussart, Sarah Cranford, Adam Hartsough (significant other Tori), Katherine Hartsough, Stephanie Stevenson (wife of Karl), Joseph Carpenter (husband of Jill), Rachel Brennan (wife of Kyle), and Olivia Klugh. He will also be greatly missed by his great-grandchildren, Collin, Skylar, Kurt, Kenny, Kimber, Isaiah, Lainey, Gabriel, and Landon; sister, Patricia Rummel (wife of Gary), sister-in-law, Cecelia (Seubert) Bachman (wife of Robert). Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 10 AM in Clauser Funeral Home, N. Carpenter St., Schaefferstown. Interment will be made in the Schaefferstown Cemetery. Viewing on WEDNESDAY FROM 6 PM TO 8 PM AND FRIDAY FROM 9 AM TO 10 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to DAV, 718 Chestnut St., Lebanon, PA 17042.
