Born March 4, 1952, in Lancaster, PA, Jim was the son of the late Geneva Patricia Rapp and James M. Hopkins III. He and his wife, Gail Louise (Martin) were married in Leola, PA, on October 10, 1970.
Jim was a member of the Free Masons, Manheim Lodge, for 50 years. He worked as a carpenter for 44 years, building homes for George G. Good and later doing commercial construction for Nauman Construction. He most recently worked as a custodian in the Cornwall-Lebanon School District before recently retiring. He was a 1970 graduate of Warwick High School.
In his free time, Jim enjoyed woodworking and for many years made and sold his handcrafted wood items at local craft shows. He recently enjoyed tending to his pet fish and turtles.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Gail Louise (Martin); their daughters, Amy Jo (Kirk C.) Madeira and Angie Lynn (Daniel H.) Roeder; grandchildren, Nathan James (Meghan) Madeira, Matthew Martin Roeder, and Sarah Elizabeth Roeder; and his sister Holly Hommas.
Per his wishes, there will be no public services.
