

Andy was born in Quincy and grew up in Braintree. He was a graduate of Archbishop
Williams High School, Boston College and Pepperdine University. After twenty years
as an Army Infantry officer, Andy retired as a highly decorated LTC having served three combat tours in Vietnam. Subsequently, he held three longterm positions in various businesses.
Andy was the devoted husband of 44 years to Ann (McGuire) O’Brien and loving father of Christine O’Driscoll and her husband Michael of Biddeford, ME, Drew O’Brien of South Boston, Suzanne Stone and her husband Tom of Plymouth, Peter O’Brien and his wife Alissa of Scituate.
Son of the late Andrew J. and Janet S. of Braintree, brother of Kathleen O’Brien of Medford, the late Michael O’Brien and his wife, Barbara, of Dalton, GA, Anne O’Brien of No. Brookfield, Eileen Kane and her husband, James, of Norfolk and Thomas O’Brien and his wife, Wendy, of Braintree.
Andy was the very proud grandfather of Michael, Patrick and Erin O’Driscoll and Caroline Stone.
Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate on Tuesday, March 5th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St, Scituate Harbor at 10AM. Visiting hours will be held from 4PM-7PM on Monday, March 4th. Interment will be in the National Cemetery, Bourne.
In Lieu of Flowers donations in Andy’s name may be made to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108.
