FARIA, Anna Agnes Victoria Veronica (Collins) – 73, of Scituate passed away on the evening of February 7, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Walter R. Faria, with whom she shared 49+ years of marriage.
Devoted mother of Mary Faria and her husband Harry Wheeler of Hingham, Peter Faria and his wife Nichole of Scituate and Katherine Faria and her husband Christopher O’Reilly of Middleboro.
Cherished Grandma of Joseph, Victoria, Nicholas, Benjamin and Michael.
Loving sister of Cheryl Newton, Francis “Frannie” Gilman and Patricia “Patty” Crouch.
Sister in-law of Mary “Mitzi” and Frank Gallahue and Elizabeth “Betty” McGrath.
Beloved by everyone who knew her, she had a gift for caring for others, making everyone feel deeply loved and special. She grew up in South Boston as part of the Collins and Donovan families. She went to school at St. Brigid’s where she excelled at mischief. She moved to Cohasset to become part of the Gilman family. Outgoing and gracious, she had an entrepreneurial bohemian spirit expressing herself through her work life by running a fabric store, Pollyanna’s, with her second mother Pauline Gilman, and as a real estate broker with her second father Frank Gilman. After marrying her husband, Walter she helped support the family business and was still active. Her most important achievements would be the love and support she gave to the elderly and those in need. While raising her family and supporting the family business she took care of Pauline and Frank Gilman, Madeline and Tipper Faria, Eileen Gilman, Paul Barrett and Peter “Red” Maguire. She was a tireless advocate, selflessly giving her time, intelligence and love to ensure those she cared for had the best of everything.
She loved adventure. When the family was young there were many boating trips to the harbor islands in the Rocus including watching the tall ships sail into Boston. As a family we saw Pope John Paul II in Boston in the pouring rain! In more recent years the adventures were road trips with her husband and children to Quebec, Montreal, the vineyards on long island NY and many more places in between.
She had a fierce love of animals, especially dogs.
