

Anthony Antoniello, age 91, of Scituate, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on the evening of May 1, 2026 after a day with family and dear friends. He was the beloved husband of Nancy A. (Fields) Antoniello, with whom he shared almost 35 years of marriage.
Born in Swampscott, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Matthew and Mary Rose (Fiore) Antoniello.
Following graduation from Swampscott High School in 1952, he enrolled in Northeastern University where he enjoyed studies in the College of Engineering. He completed undergraduate and master
degrees in Civil Engineering. For a short while, before being drafted into the Army Corp of Engineers, Anthony worked at North American Aviation in California. While in the army, he put his education to use in places including Okinawa and Germany. While he was in Germany, he married a military nurse Kate Greer (deceased).
This was the start of some global work and travel adventures. After an honorable army discharge, Anthony worked as a construction manager for military contractors in Turkey and Saudi Arabia to name a few. He had the opportunity to meet and befriend people from different cultures. He even had a horse in Saudi Arabia.
After marrying Laura Batzer (later divorced) in Turkey, he returned to the United States, living in Oregon and Pennsylvania.
His ultimate move was to Scituate where he served as Director of the Department of Public Works for 32 years. He arrived shortly before the infamous blizzard of ‘78. He treasured the residents, the history and the natural environment of Scituate. In retirement he also served on the town Advisory Board.
It was here that he met and married Nancy. He loved and happily assumed the role of stepfather aka “Pop” to Nicholas J. Faoro, Nancy’s son. Troop 90 Boy Scout Leader, Church member, Boating, Scituate Kiwanis Club, volunteer at Cudworth Barn …
Grandfather of Christopher Anthony Faoro and William Nicholas Faoro, he was lovingly involved with his boys. “Pop Pop” was a big instigator of fun, teaching life skills such as home building projects, boating, recreational lobstering, traveling with family and friends, competing in pumpkin carving competitions and lots more!!!
Predeceased by siblings: Victor, Charlie, and Connie Antoniello... Also, brother to Nina (Kenny) Walsh, Carmela (Kenn) Gonka, Mathew (Mary Linda) Antoniello, and Christina (Paul) Tardiff.. He is survived by many dear nieces and nephews in his extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 11:00 am at Harbor United Methodist Church, 55 First Parish Road, Scituate, Massachusetts, 02066. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
