Tony was born in Milford, MA in 1938. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Pasquale & Rose D’Onofrio, his step-mother Mary and brother John.
Tony graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology and Boston Architectural College, earning a degree in Architecture. He was a Registered Architect and a member in good standing with American Institute Architects. After 12 years as a partner at Rich, Lang & Cote, Tony established his own Architectural firm, Antony P. D’Onofrio Architects and Planners, in Scituate in 1981. He also taught Architecture at Wentworth later in his career. Tony was also active in the Town of Scituate, serving as a past President of the Scituate Chamber of Commerce and on the Planning Commission.
Tony loved antique clocks which he collected and spent countless hours restoring. He spent endless weekend hours searching for his beloved clocks at yard sales and auctions. This passion earned him the nickname “Crazy Clock Man.” He enjoyed reading, music, the ocean and traveling with his wife. His favorite vacations were on cruise ships and river cruises throughout Europe.
He is survived by Margaret (Peg) D’Onofrio, his beloved wife of 59 years, daughter Laura D’Onofrio of Watertown, son Mark D’Onofrio & wife Nancy of Scituate, and by his four grandchildren of whom he was incredibly proud and loved dearly, Evan, Amelia and Zoe D’Onofrio and Anthony Diallo. He leaves his brother Ralph & wife Charlene of Upton, MA and his niece and three nephews, Julie, Michael, David and John.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Tony’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or to the Norwell VNA (www.vnna.org).
The D’Onofrio family would like to thank the Norwell VNA and the Irish Angels for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided Tony and Peg.
Family & friends are invited to join together for visiting hours on July, 1, 2021, from 4:00-8:00pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral home, 382 First Parish Rd., Scituate, MA.
