

Daughter of the late Warren and Ethel (Joseph) Vining she was born in Whitman March 5, 1920. She graduated from Whitman High School in 1938. In her younger years she was a hostess at the Toll House in Whitman. The owner of the Toll House, Ruth Wakefield, and Eleanor would travel to New York to select items for the gift shop. Eleanor worked at the Toll House for over twenty years.
In June 1950 she married the late Paul F. Young and they lived in Scituate the remainder of their married life. Together they owned Paul Young Motors, a Dodge dealership in Scituate, for over 50 years.
She was very proud of their home, built by her father Warren. She enjoyed entertaining her family and friends at their beach house with lobster dinners. She was an avid gardener, animal lover, beach lover and a fan of Maria’s Pizza on Friday evenings.
Eleanor’s family would like to say thank you to the Norwell Visiting Nurse Works, the Norwell Visiting Nurse Hospice and all her other caregivers.
Eleanor was predeceased by her sister, Thelma Beland, her brothers Kenneth W. Vining, Joseph “Perry” Vining, and William D. Vining. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to the Scituate Animal Shelter, 780 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Scituate, MA 02066 or the NVNA Pat Roche Hospice Home, 86 Turkey Hill Lane, Hingham MA 02043.
Per Eleanor’s request, visiting hours are omitted and there will be a private interment.
