Elizabeth Mary Doupé, age 71, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Bridges in Pembroke, Massachusetts. She was the loving and devoted wife of Dr. Michael N. Doupé and a cherished presence in the lives of her family and friends.
Born with a generous spirit, Elizabeth dedicated her life to caring for others. Following in her mother’s footsteps, she began her career as a nurse, providing compassionate support to patients and families in need. She then transitioned to become the office manager for her husband’s medical practice, where her insightful mind and caring manner allowed her to forge meaningful connections with everyone who walked through the door. While managing the office, Elizabeth also volunteered at the local YMCA, eventually serving as president of the board and leading several fundraising efforts that benefited the community.
Later in her career, Elizabeth pursued her passion for mental health by returning to school to become a licensed mental health counselor. Upon graduation, she worked for Bay State Community Services in Quincy as a clinician and mentor, later taking on an administrative role supporting several clinics throughout the South Shore. Her warmth and kind nature made her a beloved figure among her patients, especially those facing mental health and addiction challenges.
Elizabeth is survived by her devoted daughter, Lori Sheridan, who resides in Norwell with her husband Chris and their two beautiful sons, Kaiden and Trystan. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandsons, doting on them and creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter.
Her loving spirit extended to all who knew her. Elizabeth possessed a quiet strength that supported her family and all who were privileged to spend time with her. Like the mighty oak, she stood tall, steady, and dependable, nurturing those around her with deep roots of love and care.
Music always played in the background of Elizabeth's home, with her favorite artists, Bette Midler and Rod Stewart, providing a soundtrack to family gatherings and moments of joy. She loved to dance and often lit up the room with her vibrant presence. Elizabeth cherished quiet moments spent with a good book, finding solace and adventure in the pages, and she delighted in taking long walks on the beach, where she found peace and connection to nature.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her loving parents, Elizabeth Hope Burdge of Somerset and Francis M. McHenry of Fall River. She is also survived by her siblings: Paul C. McHenry (Mary Ann) of Portland, OR; Anne Marie Petit (Thomas) of Berkley; Jean P. Carey of Somerset; and Maureen R. Faires (Robert) of Wichita, KS. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael F. McHenry (Susan) of East Taunton.
