

Frank was born August 6, 1922 in Georgetown, Delaware to Frank and Olivia (Short) Wilkins and was the youngest and last surviving of their seven children. Frank was a Veteran of WWII, Captain in the Army Air Corps, 9th Air Force, 397th Bomb Group, 599th Squadron, as a B-26 bomber pilot. After returning from the war, he started his career at Colonial Radio developing televisions. He retired after 39 years as Marketing Manager for GTE Communication Systems where he was responsible for marketing communication, command and control programs and products for the US Navy, NATO and other Government agencies.
He is survived by five children: Frank W. Wilkins III of Mansfield and Debbie Wilkins of Dedham; Mary Ruth Wilkins-Becker and husband David of Scituate; Kathleen Shields and husband Matthew of Harvard; Eileen McInerney and husband Larry of Pembroke; and Sheila Wilkins and Robert Adams of Scituate. He was Pop-Pop to eleven grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael Wilkins, Olivia and Carly Becker, Conor and Matthew Shields, Colleen (McInerney) Markham, Sean and Paul McInerney, and Kate and Sarah Adams; and three great-grandsons. He will be missed by his many loving nieces and nephews. He was devoted to his family and spending time with them was his greatest joy, especially all the wonderful summer vacations in Fenwick Island, DE.
Frank was an avid bridge and backgammon player and he loved playing games with family and friends. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and all who knew him were entertained by his antics and stories. He had a love of music and it was not uncommon for him to break into song, often singing his favorite, “Roses of Picardy”.
Visiting hours will be held at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate on December 28 2017 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with Memorial Service at 7:00 pm.

He will be laid to rest beside his dear wife this summer in his hometown of Georgetown, Delaware.
