

She was born in Cambridge, MA on January 6, 1928 and was the only child of Helen and Crato Sullivan. Helen grew up in Allston, MA and graduated from Brighton High School. After graduating, Helen went to work for the New England Telephone Company in the accounting office.
Helen met Jim Hanlon, the love of her life, at a Telephone Company Dance in 1951. They were married on May 11, 1952 and would have celebrated their 62nd anniversary next month. Helen will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an independent, fun-loving, generous, and kind woman. Helen loved to travel and was always ready to strike up a conversation with people she met. Helen, along with her husband, Jim, also volunteered for many years at Scituate Etrusco Associates.
Helen is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter Gail McLarnon of Annandale, VA and her husband, Harry; James Hanlon of Braintree, MA, and his wife, Diane; and Paul Hanlon of Rockland, MA, and his wife, Marie. Helen was exceptionally proud of her grandchildren Kristina Hanlon Kippenhan (Paul) of Braintree, MA; James Hanlon, Jr. (Jennifer) of Norwell, MA, Daniel Hanlon of Boston, MA, Kelly McLarnon Cross of Arlington, VA, Michael McLarnon, who predeceased her, and Paul Hanlon, Jr. of Rockland, MA. She was a loving great-grandmother to Henry, Chloe and Owen Kippenhan, and James and Daniel Hanlon.
Visitation will be held at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home at 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate, on Tuesday, April 15th from 4:00pm-8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday April 16th at 10:00 am in St. Mary’s of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St. Scituate, MA. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
