I was so sorry to hear of Howard’s passing. Howard was truly one of a kind—an absolute icon in every sense of the word. There was simply nobody as caring or selfless as he was.
After my father passed, I remember as a child how Howard would constantly stop by just to make sure everything was okay with our family. That kind of quiet, steady kindness is something you never forget. His dedication to friendship was unmatched, and he always put others before himself—whether it was family, friends, or even taking the time to clear a trail so others could enjoy the hike
They truly broke the mold with Howard. He was a remarkable man who touched so many lives, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

It is with great sadness that we’ve learned that Howard has passed. Our hearts go out to his loving wife Nancy and to Howard’s dear family and friends. We were blessed to know him and his boundless love of nature. He was a master woodsman who, together with Nancy blazed trails throughout natural areas of Scituate. His lively humor and exuberance will be sorely missed.

My heartfelt condolences to Nancy and family.Howard was a inspiration and mentor to so many and his loss is  deeply felt.I have so many wonderful memories of our walks and rambles through the woods and forests of the West End with the First HerringBrook Watershed group and the Maxwell Trust folks.His legacy will live on.Blessings to all.
