

WINTERS, James Joseph. – 87, of Hingham, formerly of Concord, Mansfield and North Falmouth passed away peacefully on the morning of July 9. He was the beloved husband for more than 56 years to the late Roberta A. (Deleskiewicz) Winters, who died in 2011.
Born in New York City, he was the son of the late James J. and Thelma I. (n. Alter) Winters. He grew up in Ravena, New York and was a 1952 graduate of Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School. James and Roberta were childhood sweethearts and married in 1955. He was drafted into the army and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany from 1957-1958. Once back home in upstate NY he worked for the New York Central Railroad, delivered bread and then went onto to become a salesman for Addressograph Multigraph. He enjoyed a successful career in high-tech printing equipment sales. He retired as the National Sales Manager of Agfa, a subsidiary of Bayer, 20+ years ago. After retirement he lived in North Falmouth for several years where he pursued his love of sailing in Buzzards Bay and golf. Mostly recently he lived in Mansfield and Hingham, Massachusetts. James was an avid fan to all of his grandchildren’s pursuits including, Soccer, Tennis, Lacrosse, Ice Hockey and Irish Step Dancing.
He was the devoted father of Karen Pritchard and her husband Stephen of Scituate, Robin Devereux and her husband John of Falmouth and Ginger Hastings and her husband Bradford of Mansfield.
Cherished Papa of 8 grandchildren and two grandchildren in-law: Kaitlyn Pritchard; James Devereux; Jeffrey Devereux; Caroline Devereux; Zachary Hastings and Natalie Hastings; Alexandra Armstrong and John Armstrong; Courtney Hastings; and Erin Hastings. Cherished Great Papa to great grandchildren: Addison Armstrong and Charlotte Hastings.
Loving brother of Irene Carrk and her husband Anthony of Slingerlands, NY, Carol Ann Bruno and her husband John of Ravena, NY and the late Eugene Winters. Brother in law of Janice Winters of Cranberry Township, PA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate on Tues., July 13 from 4:00-7:00 PM. Funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate on Wed., July 14 at 11:30 AM. He will be laid to rest beside his late wife at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Wed. July 14th at 2:30 PM.
