John Joseph "Jody" Barrows

Born in Weymouth, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of Rita (Roderiques) Barrows of Scituate and the late Joseph Barrows.

He was a loving brother to Robert W. Barrows and his wife Karen of Marshfield. Though he had no children of his own, he thrived in the most important and cherished role of uncle and mentor to Joseph Barrows, Jeffrey Barrows, Jared Barrows and Jamie Genovese.

He is survived by innumerable cousins, aunts, uncles, lifelong friends and an unnatural amount of godchildren, who he proudly introduced as such every opportunity he had.

He will be missed by his cousins, who he considered to be his brothers and sister, Paulette Rodrigues Bradsher, Walter Barrows, Jr., Mona Barrows, Darrin Barrows, Julie Barrows, Richard Barrows and Antoinette Barrows.…and Kit Kat.

Jody was so much more than a family man in the traditional sense. He truly took part in each of his loved ones’ lives and was a “rock” for so many. In his later years, he was dedicated to his health and fitness and exercised daily. He was an avid golfer and a skilled pool player.

Visiting hours at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home on Tuesday September 15, 2015 from 4-8 PM. Funeral Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. Interment to follow.
