Lena Bergfors

Lena Mancini Bergfors- Age 79, of Weymouth, Ma, passed peacefully on January 6, 2026 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born on May 28, 1946 in Orsogna, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Rocco Mancini and Adelina Libertine Mancini and sister of the late Catherine Mancini Gentile.

Lena came to America in 1955 at the age of 9 on the Andrea Doria. When they reached the U.S. they made the required stop at Ellis Island. Lena loved to read and taught herself to read at age 3. She learned the American language by watching TV, soap operas and attending Braintree Public Schools. She met her late husband Stephen Bergfors while attending Bryant and Stratton Business School. Lena married Steve in 1971 and worked at the family’s oil business, the Quincy Oil Company.

In 1980 Lena started working as the Director of Human Resources at Serono Laboratories. She worked for over 40 years for different pharmaceutical companies as V.P. of human resources.

She was always impeccably dressed, favoring tailored Talbots suits that reflected timeless elegance, confidence and quiet sophistication.

Lena is survived by her daughter Marisa Berquist (Bergfors) of Weatherford, Tx (formerly of Rockland, Ma), her grandchildren Drew Berquist, his fiancé Julie Wheeler of Scituate, Cole and Liliana Berquist of Weatherford, Tx, Haley Bent of Rockland Ma and her great granddaughter Aurora Madison Berquist. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her dear friend Linda Jolls.

Everyone is welcome for a celebration of life on Sunday March 15, 2026 from 11am-3pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 Frist Parish Road, Scituate.
