

Gammon, Lester R. Sr. passed away on May 8, 2012 in Scituate surrounded by family, age 96. He is the loving husband of 66 years to Dorothy (Bates). Lester was born in Middleboro, raised in Brockton, and spent 3 years living on Long Island before joining the Army in 1939. He is a WWII Army combat veteran with 5 Battle Stars, serving throughout the war. Lester worked for the New Haven Railroad, retiring over 30 years ago. He was an accomplished artist and sailor. Lester was a member of the N. River Arts Association, the Satuit Masonic Lodge, and long-time member of St. Stephen’s Church. Lester is the devoted father of Suzanne Gammon, Lester R. Jr. and his wife Melinda, and Stephen C. and his wife Karen Gammon. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 11th from 4-7PM at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 12th at 10AM at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 16 Highland Ave, Cohasset followed by burial in Union Cemetery, Scituate. In lieu of flowers donations in Lester’s name may be made to St. Stephen’s Church, 16 Highland Ave, Cohasset, MA 02025.
