

Beloved husband of the late Nancy J. (Heck) Evans, with whom he shared nearly 50 years of marriage. Devoted father of Barry R. Evans & his wife Ann of Lakeville, Janice D. Evans of Brookline and JoAnn Evans of Scituate. Cherished Grandpap of 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Loving brother of Doreen E. Gorham of Sun City Center, FL. Also survived by 5 nieces and nephews.
In 1949, Mr. Evans earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Franklin and Marshall College, having also attended Franklin and Marshall Academy. A proud WWII Veteran, he served his country in the US Navy after his father signed to enlist him just before his 18th birthday. He served as Quartermaster, LCI 443 (Landing Craft Infantry), South Pacific -Minority Cruise. He remained in the US Naval Reserve, where he became a Commander.
He worked for 37 years at General Motors Acceptance Corporation. Upon retirement, he was employed for 18 years as an Assistant Harbormaster in Scituate, MA. He was a very active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. He was passionate about soccer and coached for several years.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, June 13 at 4:00 P.M. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 465 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA. The family will gather with friends and relatives at the church for a visitation from 2:30 to 4:00 P.M. Interment will take place at a later date.
