AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Mary Ann Waters

16 avril 1940 – 12 décembre 2025
Avis de décès de Mary Ann Waters
AUX SOINS DE

Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home

Mary Ann Sczerbinski Waters, of Scituate, MA, and Breezy Point, NY, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025.

Born April 16, 1940, to Mary Previte Sczerbinski and Vito A. Sczerbinski of Providence, RI, hers was a life of loving and devoted service to others.

Loving sister of Helen DiMente, Joseph Sczerbinski, Peter Sczerbinski, Vicki Mowry, the late Vito Sczerbinski Jr., and Paul Sczerbinski, she was a friend, confidante, and pillar of strength.

Her special gift for writing, grammar, and vocabulary led her to a career as a medical secretary to department heads at Rhode Island Hospital and the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. She could draft, type, and proofread a thoughtful letter as fast and effortlessly as she could spell Otolaryngology.

In 1973, she married the love of her life, Thomas Waters, and moved to her fairytale home in Scituate, MA, where they found 52 years of joy while raising three children together. She cherished the quiet and simple pleasures of life at the beach with them at Breezy Point.

As a volunteer aide at Hatherly Elementary School, she shared her love of reading and vocabulary with children who both struggled and excelled, and found special purpose working with refugees just beginning to learn English.

At the Scituate chapter of the League of Women Voters, she spent countless hours editing publications about issues that mattered to her, preparing monthly bulletins and special reports for the community, and proudly winning the “Burnished Bulletin Award.”

She is survived by her loving husband Tom, children Sharon Radley and husband Brian of Mansfield, Bill Waters and wife Stacie of Clifton Park, NY, and Valerie Young and husband Michael of Chelmsford. She was the loving grandmother of Jonathan, Erin, Ethan, Nora, Charlotte, and Jason.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity.
