Born in Cheshire, Massachusetts on October 19, 1933, daughter of the late Everett L. and Lila Mae (Sitcer) Martin. Nancy attended schools in Cheshire and Adams and graduated from Adams Memorial High School in 1951. She was a member of Girl Scouts and Cheshire Grange# 19. Nancy won many county and state awards in her 10 years as a 4H member in Clothing and Agriculture Projects. She also received the 4H Gold Pin for 20 years of leadership in clothing. She was a seamstress and taught Adult Education Clothing Classes at Monument Mountain High School for 4 years.
Nancy helped deliver milk from her family’s dairy farm (ELMartin Farm) before she married and later helped operate dairy farms with her late husband Clarence W. Tucker, Jr. who died February 13, 2004. They were married July 25, 1953, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July of 2003. She moved on from helping on the farm to working as a Secretary in the Maintenance Office of the former St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy, New York for 20 years.
Nancy loved her family and traveling. She was always ready for an adventure or outing with a beautiful smile and a heart of gold. Genuinely kind and deeply loved by all those who got to know her, she will be missed by her family and friends. She is survived by 6 children, Dennis Tucker and his wife Bonnie of Emblem, Wyoming, Dareen and husband Patrick Markham of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Dawn and her husband Arthur Wood of Scituate, Massachusetts, Dayle and her husband Charles (Brad) Wood of The Villages, Florida, Dwayne Tucker and his wife Patricia of Ten Sleep, Wyoming and Daphne Bracken of Vero Beach, Florida. Nancy also leaves 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren whom she loved very dearly.
Nancy is survived by her sister Carol Morrison of Salisbury, Vermont, her sister Barbara Fletcher of Ashley Falls, Massachusetts, her brother Fred Martin of Cheshire, Massachusetts. Also her sister-in-law Carolyn and husband James Passmore of Waynesboro, Virginia, sister-in-law Arlene wife of the late Norman Tucker of Sun Lakes, Arizona, brother-in-law Dan Tucker and his wife Fern of Pflugerville, Texas. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law Beatrice Tucker, her brother Everett (Gus) Martin and his wife Doris (Dodie), her brother-in-laws Ken Morrison and Neil Fletcher. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved spending time with.
A memorial service will be held this summer at The First Congregational Church in Lee, Massachusetts.
