

ELLIOTT, Olive P. of Scituate, died Monday, February 06, 2012 in Plymouth, at the age of 90. Olive (Porter) was born in Middleborough, Massachusetts on April 5, 1921. She was a graduate of Middleborough High School class of 1938. She was a Registered Nurse graduating from Chelsea Memorial Hospital’s School of Nursing. She worked at Brockton Hospital and later was head maternity nurse at Chelsea Memorial Hospital, where she also instructed. She recounted stories of welcoming and caring for the many babies of the early post World War II era – the Boomers. Olive moved to Scituate after her marriage to the late Alfred J. Elliott and resided there for over fifty years. Together they ran Elliott Ice Service, a popular family run business in the town.
Olive valued friends and family. She loved to garden and cook. Her home was welcoming and a cup of tea always at the ready. She was the loving wife of the late of the late Alfred J. Elliott.
She is survived by her daughters Verna E. Dalton and son-in-law Craig Dalton of Kingston, Alice E. Yabe wife of the late Makoto Yabe of Boxford, and son, Alfred P. Elliott and daughter-in-law Kathleen Elliott of Duxbury. She was loving grandmother of three granddaughters and three grandsons. She was the daughter of Chester Porter and Isabel (Atwood) Porter. Sister of the late Russell H. Porter and the late Pvt. Vernon A. Porter.
Friends and Relatives are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, February 9th from 4PM to 8PM at Richardson Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday, February 10th in the Harbor United Methodist Church, 55 First Parish Rd, Scituate at 11AM followed by burial in Central Cemetary in Halifax.
