Robert William Donegan

Robert W. Donegan, age 87, passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 3. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Helen (Boudrot). He is also survived by his 5 children and their families – Elizabeth Bynarowicz, her husband Paul and their sons, Timothy, Michael and Peter of Simpsonville, SC; Nancy Levanchy, her husband John and their son Michael of Scituate; Susan Burke, her husband Daniel and their daughters Lindsay and Emily of Marshfield; Robert Jr., his former wife Amy and their sons David and James of North Reading, and Stephen, his wife Patricia and their daughters Kathleen, Annemarie, and Julie of Plymouth. He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth Connolly and many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his brothers, Edward Jr., Francis, and James.

Bob was born in Dorchester and attended schools in Dorchester and South Boston. He joined the Coast Guard at the end of WWII and upon completion of service attended and graduated from Bentley College. He worked many years in private industry in accounting and financial management. At the end of his career he worked for the Mass Rehab Commission, retiring in 1982.

Together, Bob and his wife Helen raised their family in Scituate and later retired to Marshfield. Bob was an avid reader with a passion for history, sports and politics. His sense of humor and his endless enthusiasm, pride and unwavering support for his friends and his family members will be remembered fondly and missed greatly.

A funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, February 9th at 11 AM, in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate. Visitation at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate on Tuesday from 9 - 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, PO Box 1525, Ranson, WV 25438.
