Terry (or TPow as he was so affectionately called) leaves behind a heartbroken wife, Jeanne Stewart and his seven dogs Winnie, Brian, Mabel-Mae, Jane, Percy, Libby and (even though he wasn’t supposed to have a favorite) his favorite Mikey…it was always Mikey.
The son of the late John “Jack” Pow and Eleanor “Ellie” (McLaughlin) Pow, Terry grew up in Scituate, spending summers on Cape Cod. The youngest of four boys, he is survived by his brothers John (Jacque) Pow of Milton, MA, David (Misti) Pow of Annapolis, MD and Frederick Pow of Plymouth, MA. Terry also leaves behind many beloved In-Laws, “The Outlaws” as they are known, Patricia and Frank Tees of Clay, NY, W. Michael Stewart and Allison Startzell of Scituate, MA, Mary Anne and Thomas Gagne of Marshfield, MA, Kathleen and James McCarthy of Scituate, MA, Sheila and David Harrold of Amherst, NH and Michael and Kimberly Stewart of Scituate, MA. Terry was also blessed with many amazing nieces and nephews.
Terry was a loyal friend to Dobber Reynolds of Scituate and to all his “Lonely Surfer” buddies. He was the “Third Son” to his “Southern Mother,” Mrs. Mary Ann Reynolds and the fun-loving sidekick to his pal, Miss Martha Allen.
Terry had the most infectious smile. It truly lit up the room. When you saw him you knew that you were in for a great time, some fabulous stories, some hearty laughter and definitely some shenanigans. Terry was known for his outrageous dance moves, including one that was dubbed “The Rope.” He loved his Duxbury Beach days and his weekly dump runs, that included all of the pups, harnessed into their car seats, coming along for the ride.
Terry recently retired after forty-three years with his family’s printing firm, John P. Pow Company and he was looking forward to spending more time with Jeanne and their Champion Boston Terriers. Terry was so proud to have once competed in the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show with his beloved pup, Gertie. He was even more excited to have had his photo taken by a Sports Illustrated photographer while he was ringside. He raced out the following week to purchase the new issue, only to find that Gertie’s sweet mug made it into the magazine, while Terry’s beaming face was completely edited out…left on the cutting room floor.
Terry will be forever missed, but always remembered for his kindness and good nature. He recently told someone dear to him to “live life to the fullest.” He certainly did and we will honor his memory by doing so, as well.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home at 382 First Parish Road in Scituate, MA.
