Amelia Wagner Fuehrer

Amelia Wagner-Fuehrer, 95, of Scottsbluff, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at WEL-Life at Scottsbluff. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Plymouth Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Rod Wetzig officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials have been established to WEL-Life or to Regional West Medical Center. Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel Friday between 1-8:00 p.m. with her family present between 6-8:00 p.m. Amelia was born April 10, 1913 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Henry G. and Amelia (Loose) Gritzfeld. She came with her family to Gering in 1914 and later they moved to Fort Morgan, CO where she graduated from high school. She was also a graduate of the University of Colorado. She returned to Gering in 1932. On December 22, 1935 she married John Conrad Wagner at her mother’s home in Gering. Amelia managed Quality Market in Scottsbluff from 1936 until the store was sold in 1953. She later managed the Gritzfeld Trust. Her husband John preceded her in death in 1973 and she married Harlan Fuerher in 1977. He died in 1983. Amelia was a member of the Order of Easter Star, Job’s Daughters, West Nebraska General Hospital Auxiliary where she managed the Auxiliary Gift Shop. She was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt who gave generously of her time and attention. She was an avid walker and garage sale shopper along with her sister and constant companion, Lyda Styskal. Her passions were antique hunting and her church. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Becke and Rod Voight, Lincoln, NE, Mari and Jeff Pumphrey , West Chester, Ohio and Cathy and Dr. Mark Houser of Califon, New Jersey; grandchildren: John Voight, Boston, MA, Sarah Pumphrey, West Chester, Ohio, Anne Voight, San Diego, CA, Adam Pumphrey, Columbus, Ohio, Eric Pumphrey, Columbus, Ohio, Chris Houser, Omaha, NE, and Ryan Houser, Lincoln, NE ; sister-in-law: Patty Gritzfeld, Scottsbluff, NE and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and siblings: Henry Gritzfeld, Katherine Linder, Robert Gritzfeld, Lyda Styskal, Chuck Gritzfeld, Esther Marchant and Ruth Peek.
