

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff, NE with Rev. George Kilmer officiating. Visitation will be from 10-2pm on Tuesday at the chapel. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 31 at 2pm (CST) at the Trenton Cemetery, Trenton, Nebraska.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to be designated to a charity to be decided by the family at a later date. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com.
Barb was born on July 1, 1946 in McCook, Nebraska to Ivan and Nila (Owens) Dewey. She graduated from Trenton High School in 1964. She married Walt Dye on September 14, 1969 in Palisade, Nebraska. She worked at the court house in Hitchcock County as the County Assessor for a number of years. The couple owned and operated the Dari-Creme from 1978 to 1994. After selling the business, Barb found her calling in the Nursing Home profession. She attended college in North Platte in 1995 to become a Dietary Manager. Barb was the Dietary Manager at the nursing home in Trenton, and following her move to the valley in 1997, she was the Dietary Manager at Heritage Estates in Gering and at Mitchell Care Center. She also worked as Social Services Director at Mitchell Care Center, retiring in 2013. Barb had a special love for the residents she served.
She was a loving caregiver to Sylvia Locker at the Mitchell Care Center.
Barb loved her family and enjoyed family gatherings and playing games with a crowd around the kitchen table till the wee hours of the morning. She was a great cook and enjoyed playing golf.
Barb is survived by her husband Walt Dye; daughters Robbin (Jeff) Moore and Sandy (Jerry) Alexander both of Bartley, Nebraska; son Don (Jennifer) Dye of Gering; ten grandchildren, Cody (Melissa) Moore, Staci Moore, Derek Moore, Jerrel (Jessica) Alexander, Jesse Alexander, Jake Alexander, Emory Dye, Alyssa Dye, Thomas Wilson and Andrew Lawson; three great grandchildren Millie Alexander, Cora Moore and August Alexander and twin great grandchildren on the way; sister Marilyn Hovey of Trenton and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Delmar Dewey, sister Delores Davis and granddaughter Jennifer Moore.
