If you would like to do something to honor Catherine Williams, here are some ideas: read to a child, take a child to the park, listen to a child, donate to a scholarship fund or youth cause, or donate time or money to dementia (Alzheimer’s and other forms) support and research. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com.
Catherine “Cathy” Williams was born in East Tennessee, and grew up during the depression and World War II. Due to a shortage of teachers, she began teaching in a one room school with a high school diploma and one summer of college. She taught there for 3 years, going back for college courses each summer. She taught another year in Tennessee, then married Frank D. Williams and moved around the country with him as he fulfilled his armed service commitment. Later she completed her degree, taught another year in Tennessee, four years in Iowa, and then taught 1st grade in Room 2 at Westmoor Elementary School for many years. When she retired she served as a substitute teacher in the Scottsbluff Schools for a few years. She devoted her life to helping children and cared deeply for all children.
She was preceded in death by an infant son Daniel, her husband Frank D Williams, her parents Annie and Lewis Dickey, her brothers Boyd and W.L. Dickey, and her sister Stella Dickey.
She is survived by brother Lavon (Wanda) Dickey; sons Don (Becky) Williams, Frank (Sandy)Williams, David Williams; grandchildren Heather and Mike Williams, great grandchildren Sundance and Karma, James and Faith; special grandson JD; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would especially like to thank caregivers Mary Loose, Charlotte Straw, Sylvia Ramirez and Diane Soto, who provided in home help. Also, thanks to the staff at Hertiage Estates. We would also like to thank her neighbors and also Equilla McKibbon and the Saenz family for the support they gave her.
