

Clarence A. Thompson, 82, of Scottsbluff, went to be with his Lord, Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Regional West Medical Center, surrounded by his family and friends. His funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Church of the Nazarene in Scottsbluff with Pastor Calvin Prouty officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park with military honors provided by Nebraska Army National Guard. Memorials have been established to Church of the Nazarene and the family. Clarence was born September 10, 1927, in Brewster, Nebraska to Floyd and Iola (Hall) Thompson. The family moved to Hemingford where he graduated high school in 1947. He attended Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Oklahoma. Clarence served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Jean Prouty on April 8, 1952. He worked for Sears and Montgomery Ward in the appliance department. In 1961, Clarence and Jean started their own business, Thompson Appliance Repair, where he worked until his retirement. He was a member of the Scottsbluff Church of the Nazarene and had served in various positions. Survivors include his wife, Jean Thompson; daughter, Bernice Rostberg of Scottsbluff; sons, Wendell (Jaleen) Thompson of Fargo, North Dakota and Bryon Thompson of Scottsbluff; grandsons, Tom (Amanda) Thompson and Steve Thompson both of Scottsbluff, Doug Thompson and Kenny Thompson both of Fargo, North Dakota; great-granddaughter, Sophia Thompson of Scottsbluff; brothers, Orvil Thompson of Kennawick, Washington and Earl Thompson of Central City; many nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Don (Norma Jean) Prouty of Scottsbluff and Stan (Carolyn) Prouty of Eastery, North Carolina. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edna (Sherman) Taylor; brothers, Paul Thompson, Marvel Thompson and Oscar Thompson; sister-in-law, Norma Hegwood; and brothers-in-law, Walt Prouty, Lyle Prouty and Les Prouty.
