David N Wimmer

David was born in Lincoln, NE on September 19, 1958, to Robert Wimmer and Nancy Strasburg. He was the oldest brother to Joni and Mark Wimmer.

He loved music and at age 14, started a band with his friends called Timberwolf where he played drums. He later played for Praise Team at church and was known by many as “Drummer Dave”.

He married Cindy Fuller on May 17th, 1985, and just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

David loved his family, his community, and having fun. For many years, his home was the place to be for summertime BBQs and hanging out with family, friends and neighbors. Any excuse for a gathering that involved food and hanging out by the fire pit was good enough. He enjoyed working on woodworking projects — although he’d be the first to say they weren’t professional by any means. He also loved lawn flamingos and all things tacky — all the random, out-of-the-ordinary things that existed only to bring a bit more fun into the world.

David worked in electronics for 30 years, beginning at Scotts in Lincoln and then D&H Electronics in Scottsbluff. After many years, he bought D&H and ran that until he retired in 2023.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Wimmer, nephew, Tanner Hauck, and In-Laws Lorne and Winifred Fuller.

David is survived by his mother Nancy (Dale) Strasburg, brother Mark (Michelle) Wimmer, sister Joni; his wife, Cynthia; his children: Lorne (Robin) Fuller, Corey (Dan) Rudnick, Anna (Jim) Anderson, Tim (Amanda) Wimmer, Jennifer Wimmer, and Laura (Zac) Ricketts; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought him great joy.

He will be dearly missed and forever remembered for the laughter, warmth, and joy he shared with everyone around him.

May every BBQ be a little brighter in his honor — and may we always find fun in the unexpected, just like he did.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 14th, at 5:30 pm, at Cleansing Flame Worship Center at 1030 O St, Gering, NE.
