Donna Jean Schlaepfer

Donna Jean Schlaepfer, 70, of Scottsbluff, died Monday, May 1, 2006 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jeff Porter officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Donna was born June 13, 1935 in Bayard, NE to Charles R. and Emma (McDaniel) Richter. She graduated from Bayard High School in 1953 and married Johnny Schlaepfer December 22, 1953 at Minatare, NE. They lived in Springfield, MO for a short time while her husband attended school. She returned to Bayard where they lived until moving to Scottsbluff in March of 1956. Donna was employed at Safeway for three years, Cenex for twenty years where she was bookkeeper and manager, manager of the Alliance COOP for six years and office manager of Gering Valley Plumbing for ten years before her retirement in 2000. Donna was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Moose Auxiliary, Jaycees, PTA, and was a den mother for Cub Scouts. She is survived by her husband Johnny; children: Bill and Paula Schlaepfer and Doug and Lorena Schlaepfer all of Gering, NE, Julie and Archie Schuler of Morrill, NE and Kay and Tony Lemons of Scottsbluff; sisters and brothers-in-law: Evelyn and Henry Meter of Gering and JoAnn and William Kisler of Minatare, NE; brother and sisters-in-law: John and Velma Richter of Gering, NE and Bonnie Richter of Bridgeport, NE; Grandchildren: Josh (Doneta) Schlaepfer and Mandi Schlaepfer, Aspen, Tegan, Kenzie and Keaton Schlaepfer, Tony (Courtney Thomas) Schuler and Taylor Schuler, Jordan and Brock Lemons; great grandchildren: Madi Schlaepfer and Tristian Schlaepfer. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ann Maser, brother Charles Richter and grandchildren: Jamie Schlaepfer and Adam Schlaepfer.
