Dorothy E Hinman, age 94, of Morrill, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at her home with her family by her side. A kind-hearted and cherished presence in the lives of many, Dorothy will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection.
A memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 1 pm at East Lawn Cemetery, north of Minatare, NE. At her request, cremation has taken place. Dorothy was born on May 15, 1931, in rural Melbeta, Nebraska, to John and Kathryn (Kramer) Hardt. She received her early education in Cedar Canyon, graduating from Melbeta High School as Solitarian with the class of 1949.
She married William James Hinman on January 2, 1949, in Gering and made their home in Minatare, Nebraska until 1969, moving to north Morrill.
Dorothy was a CNA for many years, working at Mitchell Care Center. She treasured taking care of the residents at Mitchell Care Center and also taking care of her family, a devotion that reflected her steady compassion and generous spirit.
Dorothy loved to cook, dance, work crossword puzzles, and watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her sister, Marlene McKeown of Mitchell; daughter, Sandra Hinman of Morrill; son-in-law, Mike Lowry; grandsons, William (Glenna) Zwiebel of Morrill and Andrew (Mary) Grasmick of Wasilla, Alaska; granddaughter-in-law, Angie Zwiebel of Scottsbluff; great grandchildren, Brittany (Nicholas) Lillard, Garrett (Peyton) Zwiebel, Mia Grasmick and Courtney (Josh) Grasmick-Boles; great great grandchildren, Natilee, Owen and Ada Lillard and William Zwiebel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; two daughters Debra (Larry) Sayre and Denise Lowry; her grandson, Justin Zwiebel; and two brothers and three sisters.
