Dorothy L. Sauer

Dorothy L. Sauer, 84 of Gering, Nebraska died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Her funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2009, at Northfield Assembly of God Church in Gering with Pastors Troy Allen and Phil Parker officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Gering. Memorials may be given to Northfield Assembly of God Church. Friends may call at the funeral home between 1-6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Dorothy was born in Hendley, Nebraska on November 16, 1924 to Albert & Alice (Wilson) Batchelor. She attended School in Gering and later became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She married Adam Sauer June 29, 1940 in Harrisburg, NE. They lived all of their married lives on the farm in Mitchell Valley. She worked as an LPN at St. Mary’s Hospital & the Gentry Physicians Clinic. In retirement she helped to set up the pharmacy department at the new Wal-Mart store. She was a member of the church. She is survived by her daughter; Linda Sokol of Bloomington, Ill; sons, Dick (Janie) Sauer and Steve (Kathy) Sauer all of Gering; sister Nina (Jim) Jackson, Tucson, AZ, god daughter Jenny Johnson of Scottsbluff, 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Melvin Batchelor and Alan Batchelor; sisters-in-law: Molly Batchelor and Marjorie Batchelor.
