

She was born to parents Charles and Emily (Hemming) Creswick in Taunton, Massachusetts where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1940.
She subsequently attended the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing (Brown University) where she graduated in 1943 as a Registered Nurse. Upon graduating, she joined the United States Army Nurse Corp and served in World War II as a 1st Lieutenant in the European theater. While stationed there with the 157th General Hospital, Edna met and married Henry D Fichna (Lieutenant Colonel Ret., United States Army) in Worcester, England on June 6, 1945.
Edna and Hank settled in Omaha after the war where they started their family, daughter Marlene J Fichna Loos and son Henry D Fichna Jr. Edna continued her nursing career there at Nebraska Methodist Hospital. They subsequently relocated to Scottsbluff where Edna was a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, to Lead, South Dakota where she was a nurse at Homestake Hospital and finally back to Scottsbluff where she finished her career at St. Mary’s Hospital and retired in 1980.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents, brother Frank and sister Marjorie, her husband Henry D Fichna, son Henry D Fichna Jr. and granddaughter Jennifer L Fichna.
She is survived by her daughter Marlene J Loos, son in law, James L Loos, daughter in law Laura G Fichna, and grandchildren James C Loos and wife Cory, Anthony F Loos and wife Nikki, David H Fichna and Molly, Nicole F Knedlik and husband Joel, Lucky Fichna and great grandchildren Ryan J Loos, Emma M Loos, Owen J Loos, Wyatt A Loos, Renae J Fichna, Gage M Fichna, Colin M Fichna, Tyler D Fichna, and Jaxon H Knedlik.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Jeffrey Grams officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Military honors will by provided by the Nebraska Army National Guard. A reception at the church will follow the service at the cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-6 p.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to your favorite charity.
