Edward Schmidt

Edward Schmidt, 81 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska died Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Beverly Health Care in Scottsbluff. His funeral service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jason Schmidt officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Edward was born on April 5, 1925 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Jacob J. and Emelie (Meier) Schmidt. He attended school in Scottsbluff. He farmed with his brother Harry until he retired. He married Rita Mae Almberg on November 30, 1979 in Gering, Nebraska. He was a member of the Nebraska Beet Growers Association, the Elks and the Eagles. He enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Survivors include his wife Rita; brothers Walter (Shirley) of Scottsbluff, Harry (Iris) of Scottsbluff, Reinhold (Elaine) of Melbeta, Clarence (Wanda) of Gering, Roland of Mitchell, Jerry (Jackie) of Mitchell and Donald (Claudette) of Scottsbluff; sister Donna Leever; stepdaughters Carol Roy of Denver, Judy (Melvin) Maika of Scottsbluff, Mary (Larry) Schledewitz of Bridgeport and Barbara (Mike) Boone of Pharump, NV; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law, two nephews and one stepson.
