Elmer was born and raised in Cheyenne County, Kansas. He was called to Heaven on August 13, 2020 at age 87 in Northglenn, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, of 50 years in 2003. He met and married Doris while a student at Kansas State University, where he earned a Bachelor Degree of Science and Master of Science Degree. He later earned a Doctorate of Education Degree from the University of Wyoming in 1969. His career was spent in the field of Education with elementary school teaching in Kansas and Colorado. He was a long-term Elementary School Principal in Jefferson County, Colorado.
Elmer was a graduate of SFCHS in 1951. He was ever grateful for his experiences in high school, especially athletic achievements, which set the stage for his success throughout his life.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, Henry and Christina Richers, and 7 siblings.
Interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering, Nebraska, with private graveside services.
