

Eunice Mary Lou Eirich, 79, of Bayard, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Chimney Rock Villa. Her funeral will be held at 11 AM on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Bayard with Reverend George Naylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Bayard Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3pm to 7pm on Sunday at the church. Eunice was born October 5, 1938 in Valentine, Nebraska to Joseph and Bertha (Schmidt) Kaiser. The family moved to Hot Springs, SD where she attended grade school. The family later moved to the Bayard area where Eunice graduated from Bayard High School with the Class of 1957. She was united in marriage to Harvey Eugene Eirich on December 28, 1957 at Bayard, Nebraska. The couple made their home and raised their three sons – Randy, Roger, and Robert – on the family farm south of Bayard, near the base of Chimney Rock.
Eunice worked as a clerk for Gering Clothing and the Grace Shop in Gering as well as Western Auto and Bayard Clothing. Eunice and Harvey were active members of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, was a past member of the Altar Guild, and the LWML Society. She served on the 4-H Council, was a 4-H Leader, and Harvey and Eunice were Class Parents at Bayard High School in 1976. She enjoyed doing yard work, raising flowers, and participating in family functions.
Eunice is survived by her sons Randy (Cheryl), Roger (Rene), and Rob (Joanna); grandchildren: Shanna, Natasha, and Dr. Trevor (Brittany), Shane (Heather), Nathan, Marcus, Bryan, Duston, and Melissa (Dalton); great-grandchildren Easton, Irelyn, Ashlyn, and Zayden; brother Harold (Sue) Kaiser of Kearney; sisters Virginia (Gary) Faessler of Bridgeport and Sharon Heldt of Scottsbluff; special niece Joann (Jim) Schmall; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Bertha Kaiser, her in-laws Alex and Mollie Eirich, husband Harvey Eirich, daughter Deb Eirich, sister and brother-in-law Deloris and James Dalbey, brothers Ted, Arnold, and Arvin, brother-in-law James Heldt, two nephews, one great-niece, and extended family members.
