

Eva F. Maul, 98, of Gering, died peacefully September 26, 2015 at Heritage Estates in Gering. A visitation will be held from 1-6 PM with family present from 6-8 PM on Thursday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, October 2, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Scottsbluff with Herb Rainey, and Pastor Gary Cole officiating. Eva was born October 26, 1916 to Conrad and Katherine (Adler) Frickel in Ault, CO. Her family moved to Riverton, WY where they owned a dairy farm and she attended school. In 1928 she moved to Scottsbluff and attended Lake Alice School. She then moved to Fort Collins where her father purchased a farm.
In 1936, at the age of 19, Eva moved back to the Gering Valley. On January 28, 1942 she was united in marriage to Johnny Maul and they made their home in Scottsbluff until 1958. To this union, two daughters were born: Darla Jean and Cheryl Jane. They moved to Torrington where they owned and operated Johnny's Sausage Kitchen from 1962 to 1978. In 2002 Eva returned to Gering.
In her younger years, Eva enjoyed school, journaling, drawing, and sewing. As a child, she was taught to read the bible in German. Her love for reading continued as she read through the bible beginning to end many times throughout her life. She bowled several years on a women's bowling league, loved cooking and baking traditional German dishes for her family and especially, loved the ""Dutch-hop"". She was a huge fan of baseball, especially because of her husband Johnny, playing on a team.
Eva loved talking to people. She shared many stories about the years she waitressed at the Eagles Cafe, The Copper Kettle, and Kung Fong Cafe.
Eva was known for her impeccable style. She never missed an opportunity to accessorize with a little sparkle.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl (and her husband, Ron) Engelhaupt; grandchildren Michael (and his wife, Pamela) Engelhaupt of Lake Minatare, Angela Engelhaupt of Lake Minatare, Shelly (and her husband, Jason) Morehead of Frederick, CO, Bob Gilmore of Cheyenne, WY, Vondi Howell of Casper, WY, and Karla Lazarkiewiez of Cheyenne, WY; 12 great-grandchildren; and 6 great great-grandchildren.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Maul; daughter Darla Jean Dillie; parents Conrad and Katherine Frickel; 3 sisters Emma Foos, Lydia Kerbel, and Leona Kerbel; brother Ruben Frickel
