

Frank A. Meeks, 75, of Minatare, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. His memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Lauren Ekdahl officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Nebraska National Guard. Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. A memorial has been established to the Scotts Bluff County Ag Society. Frank was born January 2, 1933, at Swink, Colorado to Frank (David) Lester and Lola Mae (Conyers) Meeks. He grew up and attended schools at Swink, graduating in 1950. He worked for the railroad to earn college money and graduated from Colorado State University. Frank married Sally Magnuson in Colorado in 1952. Frank enjoyed raising and showing quarter horses for many years. Frank served as county agent for Weld County before joining the United States Navy, where he was a pilot from 1956 to 1959. Following his discharge Frank sold Farmhand machinery for many years. His last many years of employment were with Larsen Feeding, retiring in 2005. Frank married Shirley (Randall) Evans in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Meeks and her family; children, Debbbie Evans of Pennsylvania and Darrell (Kim) Evans of Alaska; step-grandsons, Connor Young and Brett Evans; brothers, Don Meeks of California and Jimmy Meeks; sisters, Carol Fantasia of New Mexico, Gerre (Steven) Block of Virginia; and nephews, Dean and David Perkins. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sally in 1989; an infant brother; an infant sister; brother, Dan Meeks; and sister, Ina Mae Puckett.
