Freida Minch

Freida Minch, 81 of Gering, Nebraska entered into Heaven on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Heritage Estates with her loving family and friends at her side. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Church with Pastor Andrew Griess officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-7 p.m. at Dugan Kramer with a family prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the chapel. Freida was born May 10, 1934 on a farm near Minatare, Nebraska to Alexander and Elizabeth (Schaffer) Meininger. She graduated from Huntley High School in Huntley, Wyoming. She enjoyed school and was active in band. She worked as a telephone operator for 5 years. She later took some business and art/painting classes at the Jr. College.

Freida was united in marriage to Edward Henry Minch on June 13, 1954 at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff and to this union two children were born Lee Edward and Angela Renee. The couple would have celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary this year. Freida and Ed worked closely together in their rental business.

Freida was a member of the Zion Evangelical Church and active in the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed crafts, oil painting, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was very supportive and encouraged her children to learn music and a college degree. She was very proud of her grandson Austin’s high academic achievements and his acting and musical talents. Austin was an important part of Freida and Ed’s lives.

Freida is survived by her husband of 61 years Ed; daughter and son-in-law Angela Renee Minch Rhamy and Wayne of Scottsbluff; grandson Austin Levi Rhamy of Scottsbluff; brother Eddie (Kay) Meininger of Scottsbluff; sister Bertha (Marian) Smith of California; sister-in-law Dorothy Minch of AZ; brother-in-law Jerry Nash of Scottsbluff; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Freida was preceded in death by her parents Alexander and Elizabeth Meininger, son Lee Minch; granddaughter Myranda Rhamy; brothers and sisters: Elizabeth Meininger, Clarence Meininger, Joe Meininger, Rosie Benzel, Ruby Davis, and Ruth Johnson.
