

Helen (Hilton) Bohl, 92 of 2550 21st Street, Gering, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at the Northfield Villa Medical Center, Gering, Nebraska. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Northfield Villa Chapel with Pastor Dale Brown and his wife Jan officiating. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at the Grand Island City Cemetery with the Reverend Lonnie Logan of the First Congregational Church officiating. There will be no public visitation. Mrs. Bohl was born on February 24, 1916 on a farm near Berwyn, Nebraska, to George and Anna (Roy) Hilton. She received her education in rural schools and in Broken Bow, Nebraska. She moved to Gering, NE. from Grand Island, NE, with her husband in October 1991. Mrs. Bohl worked for 42 years in various offices. Her first employment was in an attorney’s office as secretary in Broken Bow, NE; then with Spelt of Nebraska Lumber Companies in their general office in Grand Island, NE. as secretary to the President, R.E. Spelts, Jr. She was employed by the United States Employment Service in Grand Island and Lincoln, NE. for many years. Mrs. Bohl was also employed in the Personnel Services of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Grand Island, NE for 21 years. She retired in 1976. Helen married Edward F. Bohl at the home of her parents in Broken Bow, NE. on May 17, 1941. Their only child, Georgia Ann was born on November 28, 1945. Helen Bohl was awarded the rank of Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska in 1955. She was a member of the United Congregational Church in Grand Island, Retired Federal Employees Association, and the American Association of Retired Federal Employees. Helen is survived by her husband, Edward Bohl, a sister, Frances Lutey of Gering; daughter Georgia and son-in-law, Darryl Hughey of Valrico, FL; grandchildren, Scott Gearhart and Mark Gearhart; great grandchildren, Cody and Caitlyn Gearhart all of Florida, plus many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; brother, Finley Hilton; and sisters Florence Kaelin and Blanch Tobey.
