

Helen K. Scoggan, 99, of Scottsbluff, died Monday, May 17, 2010, at the Mitchell Care Center in Mitchell. Her funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Plymouth Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Rod Wetzig officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Friends may visit from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. A memorial has been established to Plymouth Congregational Church. Helen was born November 28, 1910, at Plymouth, Massachusetts to Adelbert F. and Katherine (Bouse) Trautewig. At the age of nine, Helen’s family moved to Laramie, Wyoming where she graduated from high school. She then attended Ivinson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and worked at that hospital for three years. She married Warren E. Scoggan on December 26, 1934. They lived in Laramie, Albin and Lusk, Wyoming. In 1949, the family moved to San Carlos, California and then to Scottsbluff in 1952. Helen worked at St. Mary’s Hospital for there years on the surgical/obstetrical unit and then head nurse on 4th floor, of the now Regional West Medical Center for seventeen years. She was a 58 year member of the Plymouth Congregational Church, serving on many church boards, president of Pilgrim Society and devotion chairman. Helen is survived by her sons, Warren W. (Laverne) Scoggan of Scottsbluff and Dr. Allen C. (Sue) Scoggan of Kearney, Missouri; grandchildren, Linda Prickett of Billings, Montana, Holly (John) Van Stechelman of Gilbert, Arizona, Cindy Morrow (Tom Cooper) of Gering, Dr. Christine (Michael) Gillette of Scottsdale, Arizona, Douglas (Dr. Shonna McGee) Scoggan of Savannah, Georgia; ten great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Warren in 1986, and brother Walter Trautewig. A special THANK YOU to the Mitchell Care Center for caring for Helen.
