

Iris (Davy) Law, 79, of Gering died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Scottsbluff, Nebraska. At Iris’s request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., First United Methodist Church in Gering with Pastor Linda J. Batello officiating. Interment will be at the West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gering First United Methodist Church, P.E.O. Elf Scholarship Fund, or Laubach Literacy International. Iris was born January 2, 1929, to Raymond and Esta Davy at Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She grew up at Lynch and the family moved to Scottsbluff in 1941 where she attended school and graduated in 1946. She attended Scottsbluff Junior College and received her teaching certificate and taught school at Sunflower School, Williams Lake in Michigan, and Lincoln Heights at Scottsbluff. She was a substitute teacher for the Gering Grade Schools for several years. She was the Christian Education Director for the Gering First United Methodist Church for fourteen years and retired. She was also an instructor for the Adult Basic Education Program, especially English as a Second Language, at WNCC for 22 years. She was a Certified Instructor for Laubach Literacy Volunteers and Teachers. She and Alvin J. Law were married on May 27, 1950. They lived in Michigan, in Germany while Al was in the army, and in Gering since 1954. She was an active member of her church, teaching Sunday school and study groups. She had been president of United Methodist Women and also her P.E.O. group. She enjoyed reading, sewing and being outdoors to watch the birds and work with flowers. Her greatest joys were her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and other close relatives and friends. She loved teaching and working with people of all ages. She leaves her daughter Christine and husband Gary Neibauer of Aurora, Colorado; son Patrick and wife Debra of Thermopolis, Wyoming and their children John and wife Katie of Lander, Wyoming, Marie and fiancé Aaron Simpson and great granddaughter Kaidyn Simpson of Thermopolis; son Steven and wife Karin of Mitchell and their children Thomas and Kelly. Also step-grandchildren Dr. Gregg Neibauer and wife Krista and their children Alexander and Morgan of Missoula, Montana; Darcy Neibauer Fischer and husband David Fischer Jr. and her children Blake, Caroline, and R.J. Davis of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; and Nathan Neibauer of Royal Oak, Michigan. She leaves a sister Anna Lois Greene of Rancho Cordova, California; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her husband Alvin; her parents Ray and Esta Davy; and brother John Davy and his daughter Jeri Rae Davy preceded her in death.
