James Jim Ott, Sr.

James “Jim” Ott, Sr. 78 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska died Monday, July 23, 2007 at his home under the care of his granddaughter, Tonia and her husband, Louis and Hospice. His funeral service will be held Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Garry Schick officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be given to the family. James was born on October 5, 1928 to Phillip and Margaret (Bauer) Ott. He grew up in Scottsbluff and met his life long partner, Esther Meier of Scottsbluff. They were united in marriage on August 24, 1947 and to this union two children were born , James Lee Ott, Jr. and Bonnie Kay Clinesmith. James enjoyed camping with his family and going to Polka Dutch Hop Dances, listening to his German Music and spending Sundays with his son Jim watching t.v. James had various jobs including working at Greenwalt’s and Lockwoods for many years. He also was a devoted employee at Frank Implement and retired after 15 years. James has gone to be with the love of his life, the late Esther Katherine Ott, who passed away June 8, 2007. They would have been married sixty years in August. James is survived by his son James Ott, Jr. and daughter Bonnie Kay Clinesmith; grandchildren Melissa Grumbles (Martin), Tammy Schaffert (Chris), Tonia Mendoza (Louis), Hilary Greene and Allison Cushing (David); great grandchildren, Colby Louis Mendoza, Jr., Danille Maree Salazar, Brittany Kay Grumbles, Tyler Jacob Grumbles, Madison Louise Grumbles, Quentin James Scott, Elizabeth Esther Schaffert, Matthew Russell Schaffert and Sophia Jeanetta Cushing. He also is survived by his siblings, Victor Ott and Vera Hessler and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Esther, parents, sister Katy and brothers Jake and Johnny.
