

James Reiber, 81, of Scottsbluff passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Regional West Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Community Bible Church in Bayard with Pastor Brad Kihlthau officiating. Burial will follow in the Bayard Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Airforce. Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbuff on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life and Remembrance will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Community Bible Church of Bayard. James was born April 28, 1930 near Bayard, Nebraska to John Jr. and Thelma (Hornbacher) Reiber. He attended Bayard schools and graduated from Bayard High School in 1948. Following high school he attended Oklahoma University at Norman, Oklahoma for courses in business administration. In 1951, James enlisted in the Air Force and served in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1954. James married Maureen Walker in 1956 and to this union a son, Ryan, was born. James accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior June 14, 1963. James went to work for Chimney Rock Public Power in 1957 after working a year for United Telephone Company in Scottsbluff. He started as a lineman and worked up to general manager. After 36 years of service he retired in 1993. Jim served on the Bayard City Council, West Ward, was a charter member of Community Bible Church, helped with the Boy Scouts, a past member of the Bayard Lions Club, served on the committee responsible for getting the Chimney Rock Visitor Center and the lighting of Chimney Rock, and other various committees for the Nebraska Rural Electric Association, Tri State Generation and Transmission Association out of Colorado and Basin Electric out of the Dakotas. Some of James interests included: woodworking and flying radio controlled airplanes. James is survived by his wife, Maureen of Scottsbluff, son, Ryan and wife, Nancy of Alliance, granddaughters; Lindsay, Lauren, and Madison Reiber of Alliance. Preceding James in death are his parents.
